Stephen Jolly

Stephen Jolly led the fight against the Kennett government in 1992, with the defence and occupation of Richmond Secondary School, rallying community resistance against the attacks. He led an equal pay campaign, compelling inner-city cafes and restaurants to commit to paying award rates to all staff. He was elected to Yarra City Council in 2004, where he’s fought for residents’ and council workers’ rights, resisted austerity cuts, fought bad planning and the destruction of public housing, fought for heritage and community control, and tackled racism and discrimination. In 2014 he was a leader of the blockade campaign that defeated the East West Link.

Sue Bolton

Sue Bolton was elected to Moreland Council in 2012 where she led the campaign to reinstate the Moreland City Council’s after-hours child respite. She has campaigned to bring services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to the north-western suburbs by supporting the Ballerrt Mooroop community hub in Glenroy. She is a member of Socialist Alliance.

Colleen Bolger

Colleen Bolger is a Melbourne lawyer who represents people with asbestos-related diseases. She is a delegate with the Australian Services Union. She is a member of Socialist Alternative.

Gerry Beaton for Pascoe Vale

Gerry has been working and living in the inner north of Melbourne for the past 40 years. He taught at Brunswick High School and then Brunswick secondary College from 1982 to 2000. He also taught at the TAFE, Melbourne Polytechnic for 10 years from 2008 to 2018. He has been involved in campaigns against school closures during the Kennett years and for the full funding of programs in working class schools in the North.

He has been a member of the Australian Education Union state council and on the school council of Brunswick Secondary College. His four daughters all attended local public schools both primary and secondary. He currently has a daughter at Brunswick South West primary and another at Brunswick Secondary College.

Stephanie Price for Preston

Stephanie is a community lawyer and member of the Australian Services Union. She is a member of the Public Housing Defence Network and has been been active in campaigns for tenants' rights for more than a decade.

Jerome Small for Broadmeadows

Jerome is a long time construction worker and staunch unionist. He has been a leading anti-racist activist in Melbourne from the 1990s, when he helped organise mass rallies against Pauline Hanson's racist party, through to today.
